Through out his stay at the Centre as an artist in residence or through out his residency at the Centre Hayan forced himself to paint a large variety of subjects on medium format sized paper surfaces. The human figure in its primitive form is a recurrent theme of Hayan’s work, visible in more or less obvious terms in almost all his paintings. Improvisation and gesture are at the heart of his practice.
For his exhibition in the project room Hayan will present a mural painting; its subject is still unkown to the artist. The title “figures of Geneva” hints to the artist’s inspiration for the mural – the local people –, yet will not appear in a clear manner in the mural.
