Accrochage - Christopher Füllemann: Forms and Lovers

26.01.2013 - 03.03.2013

After the 2012 edition celebrating the tenth anniversary of the event’s existence by giving carte blanche to the winners of the Prix du Jury, Accrochage [Vaud] is reverting to its normal pattern. This exhibition devoted to the contemporary art scene in Vaud will again allow the public to discover works by artists from different generations, freely submitted by the artists and selected by a jury of professionals. Whether it is painting, sculpture, photography or video, the art that is currently being produced in the Canton will be honoured at the Musée des Beaux-Arts, getting the year off to a beautiful start.
In parallel with Accrochage [Vaud], the Musée des Beaux-Arts is presenting the first museum-based exhibition to be devoted to Christopher Füllemann, the winner of the 2013 Prix Buchet. Born in Lausanne in 1983, Christopher Füllemann is a graduate of the ECAL (2008) and holds a master’s degree from the San Francisco Art Institute (2012). He is currently living in California where he is pursuing his exploration of sculpture. Ephemeral materials such as wax, Sagex, latex, mirror or ceramics are combined with vivid colours to exist in space not as isolated objects, but as so many elements in a movement in which the spectator is an active participant. While the sculpture exists as a body in space, it also structures space through its presence, imprinting a rhythm on it. From being sculpture, it becomes an invitation to dance, and the visual choreography Christopher Füllemann is planning to create for the spaces in the Museum promises to be festive.
